About Shaare Zedek UK

Shaare Zedek UK, now based in North West London, was formed over 70 years ago to support the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre which opened in Jerusalem in 1902.

The committee of Shaare Zedek UK (originally known as the British Friends of Shaare Zedek) have included leading members of the Anglo-Jewish community such as Lord Mishcon of Lambeth who was both Chairman and esteemed President for many years. Members convened all through World War II, raising much-needed funds for the hospital which has so often been on the front line of conflict in the Middle East.

For details of our dynamic lay leadership, Meet the Team.

Our five committed members of staff raise funds for the hospital through events, appeals and our twice-yearly newsletter, 'Heartbeat', which reaches over 12,000 homes. Angela Margolis-Raz is responsible for special projects.

We have an office in Manchester, directed by Filis Rosenberg and a Glasgow Friends of Shaare Zedek committee, run by Henry Tankel OBE.

Please call the office if you would like to become involved with our life-saving work - we welcome your friendship.
